Rotan
“A Genuine Texas Town”

Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2007, Rotan was established in 1907 as a railroad town. The city provides a perfect detour off busy I-20 to enjoy the hidden beauty of the countryside. Peaceful landscapes, plentiful wildlife, and friendly businesses offer an escape from city life. The vast open space is available for ideal hunting. The area landmark “Double Mountains” is home to former Washington Redskins quarterback, “Slingin’” Sammy Baugh, and to rancher, Buster Welch, a legend in the world of cutting horses. Rotan is home to nine different churches, attended by residents from many area communities. Rotan has an abundance of local talent: popular performing groups that perform throughout West Texas; free concerts on the permanent outdoor stage in the wide downtown main street; murals on downtown buildings painted by local artists to highlight Rotan’s centennial year. Come to see us! Better yet, choose Rotan for your future home! Residence in Rotan, “A Genuine Texas Town”, produces happy residents. City Hall, 302 W. Sammy Baugh Ave., Rotan, TX 79546, 325-735-2251, cityofrotan@aol.com
